Aaryan Varshney wins 2nd Noida Rapid Rating Open 2024
Five players - FM Aaryan Varshney, GM Saptarshi RoyChowdhury, IM Aradhya Garg, Kartavya Anadkat and Spandan Srivastava scored 8/9 each at 2nd Noida Rapid Rating Open 2024. IM-elect Aaryan won the tournament due to better tie-break scores. The next four players secured second to fifth place respectively. Aaryan drew against both runners-up - Saptarshi and Aradhya. The top four finishers remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹25000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each respectively. The two-day rapid rating tournament was organized by Sara Foundation on 28th and 29th March 2024 at Hierank Business School in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This is Aaryan's fifth overall and first rating tournament triumph of the year.

IM Aradhya Garg and FM Aaryan Varshney were the coleaders 7.5/8 heading into the final round. They drew their final round encounter against each other. Eight players were trailing them by a half point at 7/8 each. GM Saptarshi RoyChowdhury defeated WFM Shubhi Gupta. IM-elect Aaryan became champion, Saptarshi second and Aradhya third.
A total of 493 players including a GM and three IMs took part from all over the country, one from England and the USA in this two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Sara Foundation at Hierank Business School in Noida, Uttar Pradesh on 28th and 29th March 2024. The time control of the event was 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move.
