IPS Academy 2nd Sultan Khan Cup on 26th August, Total prize fund ₹100000
The second edition of Sultan Khan Cup sponsored by IPS Academy will be held on 26th August 2021 at 7:30 p.m. IST. IPS Academy is one of the largest educational hubs of Central India. With the support of Mr.Achal Choudhary, the founder of IPS Academy and Madhya Pradesh's first IM Akshat Khamparia, the 2nd Sultan Khan Cup will be organized by ChessBase India on Tornelo. The total prize fund is ₹100,000. The first prize will be ₹20,000. There are 30 main prizes, five prizes for Women and ten for Madhya Pradesh players as well. Entry will be FREE for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIMs. For everyone else, entry fee will be ₹500. Registration is CLOSED.

On Thursday 26th August 2021, IPS Academy will organize an Open Blitz event which will have a total prize fund of ₹100,000 with the first prize of ₹20000. Total cash prize fund is ₹92500 and the remaining ₹7500 is 50 annual subscription of hindi chess magazine 'Shatranj Samrat'. Entry is FREE for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIMs. Entry fee for others is ₹500. The event is open to players all over the world. 50% of entry fee collected will go to the family of Late Mr. Swatantra Jain and the remaining 50% will go to ChessBase India Foundation.
The proceeds from the entire entry fee collected will go to charity. 50% of the amount will go to to the family of Late Mr. Swatantra Jain while the other 50% will be instituted as a scholarship for a deserving chess player under the ChessBase India Foundation.
I am writing in reference to Late Swatantra Jain who was an active chess player and chess coach for beginner kids. We have been chess mates since childhood and have been playing chess together for more than couple of decade or so, and I have always known him to be a disciplined and sincere person. - IM Akshat Khamparia.
In 1905 was born a soft spoken, unassuming Sultan Khan in Punjab, undivided India. 23 years later he became the national champion of India. He went on to win the British Championships three times and scored wins over great players like Capablanca, Tartakower, Flohr and many others. He is not just the first great chess player to come out of India, but entire Asia. This online tournament is dedicated in the memory of Sultan Khan and to recognize his brilliance.
Some achievements of Sultan Khan:
1. He won the British Championship on three occasions: 1929, 1932, 1933.
2. The first half of 1931 was probably the best period for him: he defeated Capablanca at Hastings (although he only came 3rd after throwing away a game against Euwe).
3. He then played Tartakower in a 12-game match defeating him 6½-5½.
4. In the Prague International Team Tournament he scored 11½/17 against many of the leading players of the day, drawing with the World Champion Alekhine and defeating Flohr.

Lucky Prizes
100th and 150th will get ₹750 each.
Standard Rating will be considered for pairings, a player without a standard rating will be considered as an unrated player. To claim a Lucky Prize, a player must play all nine rounds. One player is eligible for one higher prize only. A player without a FIDE ID will be required to produce a photo ID while claiming the prize. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the prize.
Entry fees:
The entry fee for the event is ₹500.
The tournament is FREE for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIMs. The last date for entry has been extended to 25th of August 2021, 7:30 p.m. IST. Tornelo link will close at 26th August 11:59:59 a.m. IST. Registration is CLOSED. 50% of the entry fees collected will go to the family of Late Mr. Swatantra Jain and the remaining 50% will go to a deserving candidate for a scholarship launched by the ChessBase India Foundation.

No draw before 30th move
In all events organized by us, 'Draw offer' before the completion of 30th move is not allowed. If a draw is agreed before the completion of 30th move, the player who offered the draw will be given a loss in that round irrespective of tournament situation. This rule has been enforced to see fighting games on all boards.
Mandatory Zoom Video Call and Screen Sharing
All players must remain on Zoom Video Call throughout the tournament from 7:00 p.m. IST till the end of the tournament. Players without having their camera turned on during all the games will NOT be eligible for a prize. All players must mention their full name on the Zoom display ID and share their entire screen since the start of Zoom call (not just window only). No player will be allowed to enter the room if they do not use the registered player's name. Zoom link will be sent a day before the tournament, once the entry closes, which means after 12 a.m. IST on 24th August 2021.
Players are not allowed to spam the chat in Zoom during and before tournament. Queries must be sent via direct message to the Arbiters. Players who disturb others during the tournament in chat will be removed from the tournament without any warning and will not be allowed in future tournaments.
Anti-Cheating measures
Use of engines is strictly prohibited. All games are being scanned, players are checked through video call. Anyone found adapting any unfair means will be removed from the tournament and all points scored in the tournament will be forfeited. We also have your details and hence you would not be allowed to participate in any future events organized by us.
