Laxman R R dominates 17th BRDCA Rapid Rating Open 2022
GM Laxman R R scored an unbeaten 9/10 to win 17th BRDCA Rapid Rating Open 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. Second seed of the tournament, GM Sankalp Gupta and IM Sammed Jaykumar Shete scored 8.5/10 each. They secured second and third place according to tie-breaks. Sankalp remained undefeated too. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹400000. The top three prizes were ₹51000, ₹30000 and ₹20000 along with a trophy each. Laxman's third Rapid Rating triumph of the year
GM Laxman R R has won a total of five tournaments this year. This is his third Rapid Rating Open triumph after he won 1st DKCA Rapid Rating Open in May and GRT Shasun Jain College Rapid Rating Open in July this year.WIM Savitha Shri B was the only female player to finish in top ten. She scored 8/10 to finish tenth.
A total of 279 players including 2 GMs, 9 IMs and a WIM took part from various parts of the country and Australia in this two-day nine-round Swiss League Rapid Rating tournament. The event was organized by BRDCA (Bangalore Rural District Chess Association) at Sri Sai Palace & Convention Hall in Bangalore, Karnataka from 17th to 18th September 2022. The time control of the event was 20 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
