Pranesh conquers 33rd City of Cannes Summer Open 2022
IM Pranesh M scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win 33rd City of Cannes Summer Open 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the runner-up, Alexandre Bacrot (FRA). Pranesh defeated him in the fifth round. Three players scored 6/9. IM Pavel Govciyan (FRA) secured the third place according to tie-breaks. The 15-year-old winner drew with him in the seventh round. The total prize fund of the tournament was €3200. Top three prizes were €1200, €800 and €500 each along with a trophy each. Pranesh's second unbeaten victory of 2022
Days before winning the 33rd Cannes Summer Open 2022, Pranesh secured third position in GRT Shasun Jain College Rapid Rating Open 2022. After winning this event in Cannes, Pranesh continued his momentum and won 26th Creon Open scoring an unbeaten 7.5/9. Then he secured second place in 28th Abu Dhabi Chess Festival Blitz Under-16 a few days ago.
A total of 29 players took part including 5 IMs from 5 countries across the world in Open A (Above 1900). Category B witnessed the participation of 67 players. The event was organized by Romuald De Labaca from 25th to 31st July 2022 at Palace of Victories in Cannes, France. The time control was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
