Serbia Open 2022 R4: Adhiban and Emre Can share the lead

GM B Adhiban seems to be getting back in his form at Serbia Open 2022 Masters. He won the first four games. Currently, he shares the lead with GM Emre Can (TUR) 4/4. They will face each other in the fifth round. GM Aryan Chopra, IM Aditya Mittal and CM Kushagra Mohan are on their heels at 3.5/4. Aditya grinded a drawn rook endgame against IM Arystanbek Urazayev (KAZ). Aryan annihilated the reigning World Women's Blitz champion, IM Bibisara Assaubayeva (KAZ). Kushagra makes an impressive start

FM Rohith Krishna S, WGM Srija Seshadri and WIM Arpita Mukherjee defeated IM Tim Janzelj (SLO), IM Nurgyul Salimova (BUL) and GM Alon Greenfeld (ISR); IM Aditya S Samant, IM Harikrishna A Ra, FM Kashish Manoj Jain and FM Sharan Rao drew with GM Vitaliy Bernadskiy (UKR), GM Harsha Bharathakoti, IM Olga Badelka and IM Sinisa Saric each respectively.

Kushagra - Arjun Kalyan: 1-0

For the second time in this tournament, CM Kushagra Mohan (2343) capitalized on his opportunity in the endgame. GM Arjun Kalyan (2477) was the one who erred in seemingly equal position.

30...Kd7 is a blunder. 31.Rxa6 Rxf3 32.Bxb5+ Kd8 33.Ra8+ Nc8 34.Bxe8 Rf1+ 35.Kd2 Rf2+ 36.Kd3 Rxh2 37.Bg6 +-. White is ahead by two connected passed pawns. Despite Black having an advanced outside passed pawn at h4, it is not easy to move it. Moreover, White's rook and bishop is more powerful to prevent the pawn's movement. Kushagra converted his advantage into a win comfortably.
