12th National Schools Chess Championship 2024 preview
The 12th edition of National Schools Chess Championship will take place from 6th to 10th February 2024. A total of 913 children have registered in six different age groups - Under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17. The tournament is organized by All Bihar Chess Association in association with Bihar State Sports Authority at Gyan Bhavan in Patna, Bihar. The total prize fund is ₹504000. The top three prizes in each category is ₹10000, ₹7000 and ₹6000 each respectively. As many as 14 different champions will be crowned in eight days. 913 children are slated to take part
The National Schools championship is the biggest national championship of India in terms of the number - 913 children are slated to take part from various parts of the country in six different age groups in Open and Girls section.
The tournament is organized by All Bihar Chess Association in association with Bihar State Sports Authority. Only school students of Under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 will be eligible to take part in Open and Girls event.
The newly crowned 48th National Sub-Junior (Under-15) Open 2023 champion - Daksh Goyal will be the highest rated player of the event.
Schedule and Eligibility:
The tournament will take place from 6th to 10th February 2024. There will be double round every day except the last day which has only one round. Check the image below for eligibility details.
Age Proof and Prizes
The total prize fund of the tournament is ₹504000. The top three prizes in each category is - ₹10000, ₹7000 and ₹6000. Check the image below for age proof and dress code details.
System of play, Time control and Tie-break
There will be nine rounds in each category. In case one girl group has less than ten participants, it will be merged with the same age group open category. Default time is 15 minutes. Time control will be 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move. For more details, check the image below.
