Ritviz Parab dominates TTCA Blitz Rating Open 2023

Goa's latest IM Ritviz Parab scored an unbeaten 10.5/11 to win TTCA Blitz Rating Open 2023. He finished a full point ahead of the field. Top seed of the event, IM Nitish Belurkar scored sole 9.5/11 to secure second place. Nitish drew against the eventual champion, Ritviz in the penultimate round. Mandar Pradip Lad and Aditya Savalkar scored 9/11 each. They secured third and fourth place according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹100000. The top three prizes were ₹12000, ₹10000 and ₹8000 along with a trophy each. This was Ritviz's third tournament triumph of the year and all three of them were Blitz events. Photos: IA Arvind Mhamal

Second seeded IM Ritviz Parab had a full point lead heading into the final round 9.5/10. He defeated Edrick Vaz to finish with 10.5/11 and became a clear champion. His sole pursuer was the top seed of the event, IM Nitish Belurkar at 8.5/10. He defeated Marthandan K U to finish second. Mandar Pradip Lad won against Ahaz E U to be placed third.

Inauguration Ceremony

The tournament was inaugurated by the Chief Guest - Mr. Mahesh Candolkar by lighting the traditional Lamp and making the first move on the board with IM Nitish Belurkar, Ashesh Keni, Secretary GCA, IA Arvind Mhamal, Chief Arbiter, FA Dattaram Pinge, Deputy Arbiter and Organising Secretary, Atish Angle, Naresh Pednekar, Pallavi Kakodkar and others.

A total of 169 players including two IMs took part from various places of India, one from Hungary and one from USA in this two-day eleven round Blitz Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association at Gomantak Maratha Samaj Hall in Panaji, Goa on 19th and 20th November 2023. The time control of the event was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment per move.
