Harshad S dominates 23rd Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit 2024
IM-elect FM Harshad S scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 at 23rd Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament 2024. He finished a staggering 1.5 points ahead of the competition. WGM Uurtsaikh Uuriintuya (MGL) scored 6/9 to secure second place. IM Alexander Slizhevsky was placed third scoring 5.5/9. Harshad defeated the eventual runner-up, Uurtsaikh in the first round and drew with Slizhevsky in Round 6. The seven-day ten-player round-robin tournament was organized by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association at Abu Sarovar Portico in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 6th to 12th August 2024. Harshad's third tournament triumph of the year
FM Harshad of Tamilnadu became the winner of the 23rd TN IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament with 7.5 points. WGM Uurtsaikh Uuriintuya (MGL) bagged runner-up with 6 points and IM Alexander Slizhevsky (RUS) won the third position with 5.5 points.
The event was inaugurated on 6th August 2024 by Grandmaster Laxman R R by making a move against Grandmaster Orazly in presence of Mr. Stephen Balasamy, General Secretary, TNSCA, Mr. R Srinivasan, Treasurer, TNSCA and IA B H Vasanth, Chief Arbiter.

Aakash - Sai Vishwesh, Round 8
CM Aakash G (2314) went for a wrong tactic 10.Bd3? early in the game. 10...Bxd3 11.Nb3 Qb4 12.Qxd3 b5 13.Nd2 Nbd7 14.Nxb5 a6 15.Na3 Qxb2 White could not manage to recover for the rest of the game.
At the prize distribution function Grandmaster Venkatesh M R was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes in presence of Mr. Stephen Balasamy, General Secretary, TNSCA, Mr. Srinivasan, Treasurer, TNSCA and Mr. R Srivatsan, Coordinator of the event.
