Semetei Tologon Tegin triumphs at 30th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit 2024
IM Semetei Tologon Tegin (KGZ) scored 6.5/9 to win 30th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. GM Evgeniy Podolchenko scored 6/9 finish second. GM Manik Mikulas secured third place scoring 5.5/9. Dhruva Thota, FM Arnav Maheshwari and FM Mohamed Anees M scored 5/9 each to be placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. The seven-day ten-player round-robin tournament was organized by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association at Hotel Alankar Grande in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from 30th September to 6th October 2024. No tie-breaks needed for top three
International Master Semetei Tologon Tegin (KGZ) won the 30th TN IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament held at Hotel Alankar Grande, Coimbatore. Tologon scored 6.5 points by winning against CM Aakash G in the ninth round. GM Evgeniy Podolchenko (BLR) with 6 points and GM Manik Mikulas (SVK) with 5.5 points finished at second and third place respectively.
The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Senthil Chinnasamy, President, Coimbatore District Chess Association, Mr. Vijayaragavan, Vice President TNSCA, IA Peter Joseph, Chief Arbiter, Mr. Dhanasekar, Secretary, CDCA and R Srivatsan, Coordinator were also present at the inauguration.
At the Prize distribution function Grandmaster Priyadharshan K was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes in the presence of Dr. M Manickam, Chairman, Sakthi Group and President, TNSCA. Mr. Stephen Balasamy, Secretary, TNSCA was the Guest of Honour. Vice Presidents of TNSCA - Mr. Murugavel, Mr.Vijayaraghavan, Mr. Anantharam, Mr. Srinivasan, Treasurer of TNSCA and Mr. Peter Joseph, Chief Arbiter were also present at the Prize Distribution function.
