Deep Sengupta relays the Chess Olympiad Torch from Dharamshala to Amritsar
The 22nd Grandmaster of India, Deep Sengupta, carried the Chess Olympiad Torch for two days. The three-times Hastings Masters winner travelled to five different cities. First he went to Dharamshala and Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday 22nd June. On the following day, 23rd June, he travelled to Chandigarh, Patiala and finally Amritsar at Attari Border, Wagah where he handed the Torch to Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar, Harpreet Singh Sudan, IAS. Deep visits five cities in two days
On Wednesday 22nd June 2022, the Union Minister of Sports, Anurag Thakur received the Chess Olympiad Torch at Dharamshala and handed it over to India's 22nd GM Deep Sengupta.

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur received the Chess Olympiad Torch at Shimla from the Commonwealth Gold medalist and three times Hastings Masters winner, GM Deep Sengupta.

On Thursday 23rd June, the Governor of Punjab, Banwarilal Purohit received the Torch in Chandigarh and handed it over to GM Deep Sengupta.
Principal Secretary, Sports & Youth Services, Govt. of Punjab, Raj Kamal Chaudhuri received the Torch at Patiala and handed it to GM Deep Sengupta.
At Attari Border, Wagah the Chess Olympiad Torch was received by Dy. Commissioner of Amritsar, Harpreet Singh Sudan, IAS. He handed the Chess Olympiad Torch over to GM Deep Sengupta in presence of BSF Commandant, Mr. Jasbir Singh of 144 Battalion and Mr. Muneesh Thapar, President Punjab State Chess Association.
