Tejas Bakre and Akash Ganesan relay the Chess Olympiad Torch from Dehradun to Meerut
The 11th Grandmaster of India, Tejas Bakre and the 66th GM of the country, Akash Ganesan relayed the Chess Olympiad Torch from Dehradun, Uttarakhand to Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Tejas is the first GM from Gujarat. He is also one of the few FIDE Senior Trainers of India. He won a strong tournament in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 2017. Akash is the youngest National Senior champion of India. He won it at the age of 16 years. The Tamil Nadu GM is also a FIDE Trainer. He has won strong open tournaments in Austria and Prague International Chess Festival Open 2020 in Prague, Czech Republic. They both carried the Chess Olympiad Torch at Dehradun, Haridwar and Meerut. Tejas and Akash visit three cities in a day
On Saturday 25th June 2022, at Graphic Era College, Dehradun, Agricultural Minister of Uttarakhand, Mr. Subodh Uniyal received the Torch from GM Tejas Bakre and handed it over to GM Akash G in presence of Mr. Sanjay K Chadha, President, Chess Association of Uttaranchal and Mr. Sanjeev Chaudhary, Secretary Chess Association of Uttaranchal.
At Har Ki Pauri Haridwar, Adesh Chauhan, MLA received the torch from GM Akash and handed it over to GM Tejas Bakre in presence of Mr. Santhil Avoodai Krsihnaraj, IPS, DIG Uttarakhand, Mr. Puram Singh Rana, Sun Divisional Magistrate, Mr. Avinash Kumar Singh, District Youth Officer Haridwar, Mr. Sanjay K Chadha, President Chess Association of Uttaranchal and Mr. Sanjeev Chaudhary, Secretary Chess Association Uttaranchal.
At Augarnath Temple Meerut, Uttar Pradesh's Minister of Power and Alternative Energy, Dr. Somendra Tomar received the Chess Olympiad Torch from GM Tejas Bakre and handed it over to GM Akash G in presence of Dr. Laxmi Kant Vajpayee MP, Mr. Vijay Pal Tomar MP, Ms. Kanta Kardam MP and Dr. Sanjay Kapoor, President All India Chess Federation.
